Extending the 35 Eureka to the Glen Park BART Station attracts new riders!

We are always looking for ways to improve service along our routes. Muni Forward aims to make getting around San Francisco more reliable and safer. Through improvements to Muni service and transit projects, Muni Forward makes upgrades where they are needed most to provide better transit service.

Starting in 2016 we extended the 35 Eureka to the Glen Park Bart Station. This does not seem like much unless you've had to walk up that hill every day. We also increased frequency from 30 minutes to 15 minutes for the evening peak. The re-routing of the 35 Eureka was initially identified as part of a public engagement process that resulted in the new route.

Since the changes, we have seen a 38 percent increase in ridership. Average weekday boarding before the change was around 800, now it is at 1100, with evening ridership seeing the highest growth. The MTA was interested in improving bus service to better respond to contemporary needs, and rerouting the 35 was determined to be an improvement to the service for the great majority of riders and stakeholders (saving time, getting passengers closer to desirable destinations, and increasing overall efficiency).

We thank all of our riders for their input and are happy that our new service is being embraced.
